Procedural Treatments

Targeted Relief Advanced Care

At Arthritis and Rheumatology Specialists, we recognize that managing arthritis and autoimmune conditions often requires more than just medication. That’s why we offer a comprehensive range of minimally invasive procedural treatments designed to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and restore function. These procedures are performed in-office by our experienced, board certified rheumatology team, using the latest techniques and technology to ensure precision and safety.
One of the most common procedures we offer is joint injections, which deliver medication directly into the affected joint. These may include corticosteroid injections for fast acting inflammation relief, hyaluronic acid injections (viscosupplementation) to help lubricate joints affected by osteoarthritis, and in select cases, biologic treatments such as platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections to promote healing. When appropriate, we use ultrasound guidance to ensure accurate placement of the injection, especially for joints that are small, deep, or complex, such as the shoulder, hip, or wrist.
We also perform joint aspiration, a procedure that involves removing excess fluid from a swollen joint. This can provide immediate symptom relief while also helping diagnose conditions such as gout, infection, or inflammatory arthritis. For patients with chronic muscle pain or fibromyalgia, trigger point injections can be used to release muscle knots and reduce localized discomfort. In certain chronic pain conditions, nerve blocks may be recommended to interrupt pain signals and improve daily functioning.
The Role of Procedural
Treatments in Your Care
Procedural treatments are not standalone solutions, they are a vital part of a comprehensive care plan. For many patients, they offer immediate relief that can make physical therapy more effective, improve mobility, or reduce the need for long term medication. In some cases, these treatments can even help delay or avoid more invasive interventions like joint replacement surgery. Whether used as a temporary aid during a flare up or as part of an ongoing management strategy, procedures can play a key role in helping you regain control over your daily life.
At Arthritis and Rheumatology Specialists, we carefully evaluate each patient to determine if a procedure is appropriate. We consider your specific diagnosis, symptom severity, overall health, and long term goals. Our team will walk you through what to expect before, during, and after the procedure. We also follow up to monitor your response and adjust your care as needed, ensuring that every step is aligned with your comfort and recovery.
As part of our mission to provide state-of-the-art care, we stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in rheumatologic procedures. This includes the use of biologic therapies, regenerative medicine techniques, and image guided injections that improve outcomes and minimize discomfort. We continually assess new research and technologies to ensure that our patients have access to the most effective treatment options available.
